Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly fuel.
Vegetable oils extracted from algae, rapeseeds, sunflower seeds and soy expecially from European networks are used in its production. The treated oils are converted into a high quality and low-polluting fuel.
The most striking feature of biodiesel is that of having similar physicochemical properties to gas oil. Biodiesel is a very good substitute of gas oil, both in an freebase form and in a mix with gas oil. It currently represents the only renewable fuel substitute of gas oil.

Biodiesel or “FAME, Fatty Acid Methyl Ester “ is a renewable form of energy; it doesn’t contain any sulphur or aromatic compunds. Its use contributes to reducing of particulate matter emitted, thanks also to the presence of oxygen in its molecule.
The use of biodiesel drastically reduces unburned hydrocarbons and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; its particulate quality category differs significantly from that resulting from conventional gas oil, with an increase in soluble fraction.
REDUCTION OF GREENHOUSE GASES AND ENERGY BALANCE.
Biodiesel is a renewable form of energy, derived from photosynthetic organisms, with a positive energy balance. During their growth cycle, these organisms use carbon dioxide, making balance with carbon dioxide emitted by the vehicles practically nil and creating a virtuous cycle.

There would have to be compelling reasons to justify switching from petroleum for transport. Why? For one, as liquids, gasoline and diesel are easy to distribute. They are also energy-dense. A gasoline or diesel tank can be filled in a few minutes and carry the vehicle hundreds of miles more conveniently than any other fuel type.
